Child Care

Child Care ... The only people happier about YMCA school-age child care programs than the kids are the parents. That’s because our YMCA programs give children a safe place to go when you can’t be with them. The programs are fun and stimulating. And, since we have school year and summertime child care programs - we have a program designed for your child all year long.

The YMCA provides activities for the Morning and After School Y-Care programs. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: Movies & Popcorn, Swimming, Games, Stories, Sports, Daily Snacks, Special Events, Crafts, and a Study Area. YMCA School-Age child care programs are supervised by trained, caring leaders who give children the attention and encouragement they need.

Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. No person is excluded from service because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

Before School Y-Care... Before School Y-Care provides early morning activities for children kindergarten through sixth grade. Children will be provided breakfast, recreational or quiet time, and transportation to school. When school is canceled or postponed because of weather, you don’t have to worry about finding someone to watch them. We provide all day and partial day care when school is canceled. Parents may drop registered children off between 6 and 8 a.m. Buses begin to leave at 7:35 a.m.

After School Y-Care... After School Y-Care fills the afternoon hours with fun-filled activities for children kindergarten through sixth grade. Children will be provided an afternoon snack, organized activities, recreation time, and transportation from school to the YMCA. Parents must pick up children by 6 p.m.

Kindi Kare... Kindergarten is an exciting experience for both you and your child. This experience can also become burdensome if you are “juggling” a job and the half day student. Transportation and child care can become difficult hurdles to overcome if your schedule is not flexible. The YMCA has a program that caters exclusively to kindergarten students and their parents. The Kindi Kare Program has trained, caring leaders who give children the encouragement and attention they need. The YMCA also provides hot lunches and nutritious snacks. Supervised activities include: swimming, gym time, arts, crafts, quiet time, games, and free time. Transportation provided by the YMCA mini buses will be to and from the following schools: South Peru, Holman, Lincoln, Elmwood, St. Charles, St. John, and Blair Pointe. Transportation from Maconaquah and North Miami Elementary Schools will be provided at a fee if there is a great enough need. The Kindi Kare Program will be available Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. During school vacation or in the event of school cancellation, the YMCA will provide child care all day. This program begins the first full day of school and continues throughout the school year.

Summer Enrichment... Mom and Dad, are you looking for someone to provide Summer Care for your child/children? The YMCA has trained personnel who enjoy working with children. Some of the activities we enjoy each summer are as follows: swimming at Miller’s Pool and the YMCA, visiting area parks and museums, blazing the trails at Mississinewa, field trips, bowling, guest speakers, arts and crafts, movies and popcorn, hot lunches and healthy snacks. This program is available 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Children entering Kindergarten through the 6th grade are eligible to participate.
