CARDIO CRUNCH...
Women and men can enjoy a moderate to advanced workout
consisting of muscle toning, aerobics, stretching and
flexing with a lot of fun and good music. Classes are
available in the morning and evening.
STEP AEROBICS...
This low impact workout,
utilizing three-tiered Reebok steps, is a popular class.
This program gives a great cardiovascular workout that is
fun and easy to follow. Register early, space is limited.
CIRCUIT TRAINING...
Got a busy schedule?
If so, this program is for you. Our Circuit Training Class
combines step aerobics and a complete weight training
routine into a one hour session. Imagine realizing the
benefits of both bench aerobics and weight training in half
the time. If you know the benefits of regular exercise, but
have a busy schedule, this class is for you.
KICKBOXING AEROBICS …
This class combines kickboxing
moves with aerobic exercise to give a full body workout.
Come join the fun while increasing your stamina and fitness
levels.
BOOT CAMP AEROBICS …
This fast paced "boot camp" like exercise hour pushes you to
perform at your best level. The whole body will feel like it
got the work out it deserved as our "drill instructor" like
leaders push you hard. Come join the fun, but you may not
think it's much fun while you are in the middle of the
toughest exercise of your life.
AEROBIC WALKING...
For a great
cardiovascular workout, some good company and conversation,
and an hour outside seeing the town of Peru, aerobic walking
is just the thing. Join the walking group from the “Y”.
Three to four miles are covered in about 50 minutes. This
class is held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays all year
round weather permitting. Also during the summer we have a
morning walk for the early risers.
AQUACISE
... Like
aerobics, but without the sore muscles? Done in the water,
this class uses the water’s resistance to strengthen and
tone muscles and provide a cardiovascular workout, even for
those who do not know how to swim. An added benefit of water
exercise is the ease of pain and stiffness caused by joint
ailments.
NAUTILUS...
For a fitness program that you
can do anytime the “Y” is open, by yourself or with a
friend, Nautilus is the program for you. From a toned look
to the built muscular look, from aerobic machines to muscle
building machines, that’s what we have for you.
WATER WALKING...
If you’re tired of fighting
the weather but still want to walk for fitness, a walk
around the shallow end of our indoor pool will do the trick.
Enjoy the added benefits of water walking. There is little
pull of gravity so it’s easier on your joints and the
water’s resistance causes added cardiovascular and total
body workouts. Also try cross country skiing in the deep
water. This helps tone the abdominal muscles and many other
muscle groups along with the heart.
HEALTHCONNECT ...
HealthConnect is a
collaborative wellness program between Dukes Memorial
Hospital and the Miami County YMCA. This program, along with
other resources, provides education and support activities
that encourage people to commit to healthy lifestyles.
SPINNING ...
The YMCA's newest
cardiovascular workout on stationary bicycles. Spinning
simulates a ride up and down hills and on flat roads too.
Lively music and creative instructors add to the fun.
Monitoring your pulse and pedal speed is important and
anyone can participate at their own level. Register for
classes by the month as early as 5:15 AM and as late as
6:30PM; plus Sat and Sun.
BODY BY CHOICE ...
When you join Body By Choice you will embark on a
journey that will help you make positive lifestyle changes
through education and exercise. This program is designed for
people who need to lose 10% or more of their body weight.
You will find yourself among people with many of the same
obstacles and goals that you have. Together we will work to
tackle those obstacles and accomplish those goals. Class
will be held twice a week with half being a class
room/discussion and the other being various forms of
exercise. You will also add one more exercise program to
your week. There is a fitness and wellness evaluation at the
beginning and the end of the program, which runs for 12
weeks.
ABSolute POWER ...
This is a 30 minute muscle conditioning class using
your "core" muscles; abdominals, low back and obliques.
YOGA ... Yoga is an
ancient discipline designed to relieve stress, control pain,
bring peace of mind through breathing, body stretching
exercises and meditation. Yoga is designed to get the most
results from the least amount of action.
YOGAGLUTS ...
Yogagluts is a fitness program that focuses on developing
muscular strength and endurance throughout the body. Yoga
postures ore performed is a new way to isolate and
strengthen muscles. Yoga postures are strung together using
athletic, active, and flowing sequences and extra fitness
movements, such as squats, push-ups and lunges for greater
overall body conditioning. |
